Testing Your Mod

Just a little note about testing. Always, always, ALWAYS use a “clean” save to test your mods. If you can, try to start a whole new game without any mods running to use for testing. If you’re making a mod for a high-level character, you can always use the console to adjust the character’s stats to the appropriate level. Also, don’t save with your mod running, then edit the mod, then try to load that save. It will lead to the infamous “doubling” bug and possibly cause other problems. Try to run the quest all the way through without saving, and if you have to edit the mod, start the quest over from the beginning.

So start Morrowind, and in the Data Files menu, check your new mod, uncheck everything else except the main game esm file(s) and start the game. One good thing about this quest is you don’t need to be an uber-character to complete it, so why not start a new character? Go find Madera in the South Wall, and run through the quest. It shouldn’t take you long. Try to talk to her several times, including at least once after she’s given you the quest but before you find the book. Basically, you want to test every possible dialogue option you added.

Did you find any bugs? If you followed the tutorial closely, you shouldn’t have. However, there are a few things you might do to make the gameplay a little bit more enjoyable.
